Driver
A driver is the mechanical part of a loudspeaker or subwoofer, also called a transducer. The driver’s function is to take the electrical energy of the audio signal and convert it to mechanical energy by moving air to create sound. The parts that comprise a driver are the cone, dust cap, spider, voice coil, magnets, frame and other supporting components dependent on the individual design. Drivers can take the form of a dome, cone, ribbon, or horn. The best speaker and subwoofer drivers are made with lightweight and rigid materials and precisely engineered to create effortless, crystal clear audio output that is unerringly faithful to the original source material.
